Ask@ENGINEERING.com is an online forum for participants to ask and answer questions and post puzzles on a range of engineering related topics. The following is a list of Values that are to be followed when participating in the community. Violation of these values may result in the termination of your ENGINEERING.com account without warning.

Post Your Question In the Correct Category
The first step in having your question answered quickly and accurately is to make sure that it is posted in the correct section. This allows people with expertise in the area to see your question and gives you're the best opportunity of having it answered quickly and accurately.

Ask Clear Questions
You must have heard the phrase, “if you ask a stupid question, you'll get a stupid answer.” Words to live by in the any online forum. Asking a clear question means keeping the question short, but making it descriptive enough so that other users will understand what you are asking. Use correct spelling and grammar to help aid in the process of making yourself understood. Using slang, instant messaging lingo or other abbreviations will only add barriers to getting the answers you are looking for, so it is advised that you avoid them.

Share Your Wealth of Knowledge
You're a smart person. You have some experience. Why not put it all to good use? Don't be shy and take a moment to share you knowledge, experiences and opinion by answering a question whenever and wherever you can help. It will only help make the Ask@ community a better place for all of its users.

Venting
Ask@ENGINEERING.com is not a venue for you to vent, rant or spread messages of hate aimed at any individual or group. This community has a diverse background and such behavior will not be tolerated. Please respect other users and keep these unnecessary comment off the Ask@ community.

Chatting
Ask@ENGINEERING.com is not meant to serve as a chat room with your chums. Any post that does not seek an answer to a question or advice or guidance does not belong in the community.

Mean or Obscene
Language or images that are deemed to be sexually explicit, vulgar or posts that are belligerent, insulting or use objectionable language are not permitted. Please use discretion when asking a question or responding to a post.

Exploiting the Community
Ask@ENGINEERING.com is a community environment aimed at gaining and sharing engineering related knowledge. It is not an avenue to gain prospective customers or solicit others for personal or financial gains.

Cheating & Misusing
Ask@ENGINEERING.com has a point system then rewards members for their contributions to the community. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of gathering more points or soliciting others for points is not permitted. Nor is copying and pasting other members' answers. Don't create multiple accounts to troll. Don't post things in any other language than English. Don't post the same question over and over again. Don't target other users by using the report abuse or other Ask@ features. Should you use an Internet source to help answer a question, be sure to include it as a source in your answer.

Violating the Law
Laws vary depending on your country, state, province or city. Make sure that any of your posts are not in violation of the law in your region. Attempting to obtain members' personal information, steal copyrights or trademarks or invade the privacy of others is not acceptable use of the Ask@ service. Do not threaten, harass, impersonate or hurt other members.

Behaving Maliciously
Posting virus, spyware or other malicious programs or links that interfere with the operation of Ask@ENGINEERING.com are strictly prohibited.

No Harm, No Foul
Above all, at all times be responsible. Do no misrepresent yourself or give advice that may lead to the harm of other users.
