Tarek:

The best type of engineering to study is the type of engineering that interests you the most. Oil and gas companies do need a lot of chemical engineer and oil engineers, but they also need electrical engineers, mining engineers (oil sands), mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and others.

If you are just starting in college and do not know exactly what type of engineering to focus on, get into a general program that will allow you to explore the different types of engineering. Also, get into a program that has a formal internship or co-operative education program where you can get real experience with an oil or gas company. This will allow you to more easily find the type of engineering you are best suited for and help get an advantage for your first job after graduation.

Good luck with your studies.
