Train Assembly

Submitted By
Kyle Van Dyne (Trenton High School)

Project Description
This is a two-hour course in three-dimensional, feature-based parametric solid CAD. In this course the student will create complex three-dimensional parametric models and then generate two-dimensional views from those CAD models. Single parts and assemblies are developed, constrained and manipulated in the modeling process. The application of dimensions, tolerances and the creation of advanced views will be learned in the drafting environment. Instruction in surfacing will include extruding and the creation of simple and complex surfaces in the Generative Shape Design Work Bench.

Course Standards:

  1. The student should be able to draw and dimension working drawings of all parts of the selected problem.
  2. The student should be able to draw section views as necessary for the selected problem.
  3. The student should be able to draw an assembly drawing with a parts list of the related problem.
  4. The student should be able to draw an isometric drawing of a selected problem.
  5. The student should be able to draw an exploded isometric drawing of the selected problem.
  6. The student should be able to add materials to 3D surfaces.
  7. Students will be required to enter completed projects in the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society annual competition.

Assessments:
