About Invenia:
Invenia Technical Computing is a Canadian-based company focused on machine learning research
and development. Invenia's mission is to develop the world's premiere forecasting systems for the
needs of energy providers from generation to delivery. Currently, Invenia is working to assist electrical
utilities and combat climate change by applying its technology to wind generation forecasting, and
electricity price forecasting.
About the Position:
Invenia is looking for a new Lead Researcher. On a day to day basis, the selected candidate will be
researching, designing and implementing algorithms for application to time series problems related to
energy markets. This means they will lead a small research team to:
> Write research grants
> Find novel solutions to time series prediction problems
> Work directly with energy utilities and companies
> Design and automate forecast systems and tools
> Maintain and improve the accuracy of ongoing forecasts to clients
> Implement learning algorithms for real-world problems
> Conduct novel research and stay abreast of the latest trends in forecasting
> Work with Numerical Weather Prediction models
Desirable qualifications
> Research experience
> Project lead experience
> Background in machine learning
> Experience writing proposals
> Background in time series analysis
> Budgeting and project management experience
> Experience with C#, MATLAB, or distributed computing
> An advanced degree in an area related to machine learning, statistics, or artificial intelligence
