Below are links related to the topic for you to explore.  You can post your thoughts and opinions on the subject in the comment section at the bottom of the page.

Posted to the left are the results from our January Poll regarding Global Warming.

Do the recent IPCC findings change your opinion on Global Warming?

Do the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change findings change your perspective on Global Warming?

What are your thoughts on the alternative fuels currently in development?

Are they going to be the technology of the future, or just another fad?

Additional Links will be added as the discussion continues, so check back often.

Got an engineering topic you want us to cover?  Have a link that is pertinent to the discussion that you'd like to see posted?  Send me a note at jhayes@engineering.com

Global warmings
It is a serious issue that need to be given attention to,i think in the industrial areas where we have series of pollution a means should be brought out that we minimise this pollutions bcos humans are suffering everyday especially in AFRICA

Walking and biking will NOT save the world
What planet are you from? walking and biking to save the planet? You've watched the Gore too much. The entire infrastucture of the planet is built for us to travel long distances. To bike or walk we would need move millions of jobs and millions of people. Most of car driving is to get to work. We need engineering to make cars, appliances, more efficient and less environmentally destructive

Wrong
Nuclear energy is NOT clean. It may lack the emmissions of other form of energy production but the risks to health in the surrounding communities and wherever they dump the waste is very serious. Money and effort should first be spent on changing our behavior and use of energy including the "green car". This would require redesigning communities to facilitate walking, biking and other forms of transporation (where are the environmental civil engineers?) as well as changing the way we work and play. Don't bother crying to me about winter and how much you need your car. There are plenty of cold climates in the world where people have a much smaller environmnetal footprint than the greedy, spoiled and selfish North Americans. The environmental improvements from a green car are insignificant compared with what we could achieve by changing our behavior.

Nuclear
Or as George W would say, "nucular". There are a zillion nuclear facilities all over the world. They are safe and clean. And every science fiction writer will tell you that they've already written the future and it's nuclear. Wall Street has also figured this out - witness the recent runup in uranium prices.
