Why are you interested in an engineering career: |
As a kid I found myself always being curious in how things worked and ended up dismantling many of my toys to figure them out (and unfortunately never managing to get a lot of them back together again). I've always had an affinity towards mathematics and the physics of our world which has lead to my educational pursuits in the sciences.
I graduated in 2002 with a degree in Earth Science which focused on the many physical anomalies of the many Earth systems and how these anomalies can be measured, analyzed and explained. After a couple years away from school I decided to follow my instincts and head back to school to pursue Engineering. |

What is the biggest engineering challenge currently facing your country: |
I believe the biggest problem we in Canada will soon face is a skills shortage. Over the next 5 years it is expected that over 225,000 skilled workers will retire with this number increasing to over 400,000 in the next 15 years. This large number of workers leaving the work force will create a definite skills shortage as the statistics indicate that there is not enough young people nor new immigrants to fills these positions. |
